The JINN project

The JINN project is made by Monica Östling Holmlund for the final exhibition at the Forsbergs School of Graphic Design and Advertising. The theme for the exhibition was coincidence, read more about it here. Monica is a freelance graphic designer at Kringla Interaktiv Design.

Concept description:
Since the beginning of time people all over the world have used coincidence as a mean of grasping the unforeseeable. Clear reflecting material such as glass, crystal, water and metal have often been used to tell the future. This habit still lives in children’s games “black madam in the mirror” and in the fortune telling in melted tin that is a part of the finnish New Year celebration.

JINN is about how we as human beings cannot help searching for patterns in chaos and coincidental events. It is also about meaningful coincidence, syncronicity, and the shiver of excitement that it creates.
